We are expecting a late season storm to come together quite quickly and impact a large portion of the area on Wednesday. Well over 50% of the state has seen high wind watches issued for them, with highs set to warm up in the 50s and 60s with some areas seeing temps reach 70+ degrees. Of course, all this excitement in Iowa, comes with additional fireworks, as storms are likely to accompany this sporadic weather.
These storms currently have a marginal threat associated with them, however, we are expecting this to be upgraded, yet again. Storms will be racing at an expected speed of 70-80 mph. This is very similar to a late season even that took place in Iowa late last year in Central Iowa.
After this threat passes, cooler air will settle in, and bring in even colder temps for the weekend weather. It is yet to be seen how many locations will have a White Christmas.
